2020 Reading  Summer Reading Assignment

Rising 9th grade Summer reading assignment for PHS

Attention Rising 6th, 7th, and -8th graders:

This summer you will be asked to select a book, read it, and participate in an online reading project. This year’s program is designed to foster a joy of reading and provides an opportunity for you to explore different genres. You are encouraged to read more than one book!  You can select ANY book you wish as long as it is school and grade level appropriate. It can be fiction or nonfiction!  It needs to be at least 100 pages.  A great resource for locating books that might interest you is the Powhatan County Public Library!  You can access the library’s selection of books at https://public.powhatanlibrary.net/#section=home

Students may begin reading at the beginning of the summer and may complete their online form any time before September 10th. When you are reading to complete your summer reading form:

  • Click on the following link ‐ https://tinyurl.com/PMSReads2020 or enter the address into the browser. Once you have accessed the form, type in your name in the correct space.
  • Type the title of your book.
  • Answer two of the questions listed as they pertain to your reading selection.
  • Click submit.

Students who participate in the summer reading program will receive a treat during the first month of school. If you have any questions, please contact Tracey Ingle, English Instructional Specialist, at tracey.ingle@powhatan.k12.va.us or (804)598‐5700, ext. 140.
